If you’re depressed, probably you are DESPERATE about a number of subjects. For example:
1. Relationships — there is probably someone (or several) you would really like to get OUT of your life.
2. Money — there is something that you really need money for — and you CAN’T SEEM TO GET IT!
3. Health — you have some annoying (or worse) condition and it just keeps on keeping on.
4. Other — We depressives always have something to feel desperate about! We’re like people living in paper bags with no way to punch out!
The thing to remember if you’re feeling desperate is that 9 times out of 10, you can’t get what you’re desperate to get or do what you’re desperate to do. That’s because, in your current state of mind, you keep shooting yourself in the foot without even noticing it. Yes, you feel the pain in your foot, but you don’t realize that there are things that you are doing that are actually causing or exacerbating that pain.
Everyone has heard about the drunk that survived a car crash that he caused, while everyone who was sober died. The people who died were probably feeling rather desperate to survive. The drunk was relaxed, unaware of what was happening. Try to remember that like the drunk, you’re probably causing a lot of your own problems unknowingly. But, unlike the drunk, you’re not relaxed and enjoying the ride. If you keep reading my blog, I promise to share with you all my processes for overcoming depression and learning to enjoy the ride.
You might say that my journey is from suicide to sunny side. Relax, let go, realize that there is only so much you can get done in one day.
