Every day brings plenty of blessings, whether or not we are in an emotional state to receive it. A phone call this morning left me in a depressed mood, but a bike ride to my neighborhood Starbucks and a quick perusal of some other wonderful blogs left me rejoicing. Today there isn’t a cloud in the sky, there is a gentle breeze, and the weather is warm but not oppressively so.
A few years ago, I wouldn’t have seen the value in looking at the positive aspects of the day. I was taught that one must focus on problems intensely in order to solve them. Unfortunately, that kind of focus tends to exaggerate the problem and attract others! After years of focussing on all the problems in life, all I was seeing was problems.
Lightening up frees my mind to see the solutions (which usually appear while I’m in the shower!). What a pleasant discovery to make.
I want to give a shout-out to one of the blog posts that really uplifted me today. Karen Turner, founder of ASK (Acts of Simple Kindness) quoted a brilliant article from Carol Brody Fleet that would inspire anybody in a tough situation:
Thanks, Karen and Carol.
