Was God smoking today?

I was driving to a government agency to check up on an issue that’s been bothering me a great deal lately.  Despite my attempts to be upbeat, I do run into issues from time to time that bug me.  As I approached the office, I noticed that there was an open parking space right under a big tree, despite the crowded lot.  So, I figured it was a good sign and pulled in to park in the shade.

Just to get myself in the right frame of mind, I decided to stay in the car and relax for a few seconds.  I rolled down the windows, and a nice cool breeze blew through the car, despite the air temperature of 102 degrees F.  The radio was playing a tune I recognized and liked, but it was just a musical interlude of the song and I didn’t pay any attention to it.

Always looking for something to feel happy about, I noticed how blue the sky was.  I didn’t have my camera, but today the clouds looked like they were puffing smoke.  They were white and fluffy, but on top of each cloud was a smaller, white, smear of cloud that looked like smoke from a pipe.

I laughed to myself and thought, “It looks like God is smoking today.”  At that instant, the song on the radio segued to the singer (Michael Jackson) and the words came through loud and clear:  “You are not alone.”

The message was incredible:  “Here’s the shady parking space, just like you like it.  Sit back and relax and I’ll show you something that will amuse you.  And by the way, I’m doing this to let you know that you’re never alone.”  I was blown away.

By the way, when I went to the agency and looked for the troublesome data that I had been told about, it didn’t exist.  The thing that I was so worried about disappeared into a puff of smoke.

Don’t worry.  Be happy.
