As I write this, I’m enjoying the perfect temperature, beautiful sunset, and friendly doggie company in Madera, CA. I’m reflecting on the beautiful day that was yesterday and the wonderful kick-off of my class series, “Seven Steps to Elevate Your Life.”
14 people attended the first class, which was free, and 6 signed up to take the remainder of the series. (I’m including our videographer in both of these lists, who was overjoyed to be a part of it.) The participants came with open minds, which came in handy when I asked them to run up and down an 8-foot aluminum ladder and see what secret I had hidden up high. It was a great lesson in perspective.
The ladder had five signs on it, “Despair” being on ground level, “Contentment” being in the middle, and “Freedom” being at the top. From the elevated levels, people could see a funny little sign that just said, “Hi!” That little sign represented opportunity, which presents itself when you’re prepared with high expectation, preparedness, and enthusiasm. From the ground floor, at the level of despair, the little sign and the opportunity were just not there.
I speak from experience. I’ve gone through the wringer, as they say, and now I see the benefits of lightening up, so that’s what I’m doing. We really had a great time examining some feelings in a safe environment and laughing a lot.
At the end of the class, we had a little song and lots of cookies. It was the start of a beautiful series of classes, from my perspective.
