Seven Steps to Elevate Your Life

Well, I have now completed two out of  the series of 7 classes entitled, “Seven Steps to Elevate Your Life.”  True, I’ve stepped totally out of my comfort zone by teaching a live class of my own creation, but it’s been an incredibly rewarding experience so far.  Not only are people opening up about real-life conditions that are dragging them down, but I feel that I’ve actually helped to create a safe place for them.  This is a true privilege.

Now if I can keep it up until they actually feel some benefit, then I’ll feel that I can finally die in peace!

Seriously, though, I’m having a good time and I’m using a natural-born talent that I’ve never used up until about a year ago:  public speaking.

The back story is that my life was filled with so much torment and insecurity that I was having a hard time finding my rightful place in the world.  Continual searching for a philosophy that worked and a livelihood that felt right continually turned up short.  After seeing The Secret documentary and reading some related books, I started to get excited because I knew that I had finally gotten some hints that could really help me.

Still desperate, though, I had to accept the fact that I was in the worst position of my life, learn to endure it, and look for positive things to appreciate about it.  I joined Toastmasters as a way to distract me from the pain, and found out that I could do public speaking.  The contrast was so pronounced between my regular life and my Toastmasters life, which was so supportive and fun, that I almost quit Toastmasters because I didn’t think I could handle the emotional disparity.

Thankfully, I decided to hang in there with Toastmasters and enjoy being around some very positive people.  And I was in one of the best clubs ever in terms of positivity:  Encinitas Toastmasters, www.encinitastoastmasters.net.  Although I’ve moved 400 miles away from them, I am still friends with them to this day and get the group emails.  They were delighted, by the way, to hear that I was taking public speaking to the next level.

Thank you so much for reading this blog. If you like it, please subscribe and share it with your friends.  My fate was changed by some positive people who had a big impact on my life.  If you find this blog to be positive and/or uplifting, I would surely appreciate it if you would share it.

🙂

  1. Hello Andrea. Big Congrats to you! I am proud of you and thankful for being able to share this portion of your journey. Some of us, (I’m raising my hand with a soft smile), are still preparing ourselves for public speaking. You are showing me and others that this is not only doable, but also fun and nurturing. So awesome. Thank you, infinitely. And as always…Best Wishes.

Glad you stayed with Toastmasters and got used to feeling good! xo
